Training to the use of a clean room

Faced with the need to produce a new range of high-voltage capacitors in a controlled atmosphere environment (clean room), the branch of a Japanese company, located in Charleroi, contacted us to assist them in training their manufacturing and cleaning area staff.

The company’s staff, working on a continuous schedule, had no experience working in this type of constrained environment. It was also a first experience for part of the management team. To maintain the production schedule, their availability to follow trainings was limited, and each new recruit had undergo this training before gaining access to the room.

Our Solution & Result: We created a set of training materials in two formats (presenter-led training / autonomous video training) to introduce the staff to this new work environment:
– Initial training of existing staff, in a training room with a presenter 
– Continued/refresher training, via a video capsule with the same content (to make the company autonomous with new hires)

To avoid impacting the production schedule, we delivered this initial training by adopting the working hours of each team (morning, afternoon, night).

We also covered two essential aspects of working in a clean room through video training capsules:

– Room access: Principle of using a clean room with inter-lock, dressing and use of the airlock and air shower, work behavior in the production area to limit particle emission, types of materials to avoid in the clean room, reading of a particle counter.
– Cleaning of the clean room and airlock: logical order and progress of operations.
To create these capsules, we filmed the staff during their training, which allowed us to quickly create fully customized support materials.
